Are The China Sourcing Problems Isolated?

Two questions recently came to mind amid the controversy over China sourcing, specifically the toy recalls. First, is the lead paint issue new or just newly discovered? And, second, is the lead paint issue more widespread than just in China?

I decided to do a little experiment just for fun. And I decided to video record it for you in case you found such stuff interesting.

So here is the latest vlog (video blog) on the Purchasing Certification Blog:

Hong Kong was a part of the British empire at the time your car was produced, so this experiment is basically saying that cars made outside of China have been safe for some time. HK went back to China in about 2001, but is still considered to be a developed economic zone and has its own laws and regulations.

Thanks for the insights.

Perhaps I can dig up a truly "Made In China" toy from the '70's and do another experiment.

When I first came up with the idea, it just sounded like something fun to do (I know, I need a life). But as I actually was doing the video, I thought "Hmmm...perhaps this could be a more serious experiment."
